Shutdown up

The shutdown tool can be used to shutdown or restart remote computers

Note
For this functionality to work, remote computers must be running Windows XP or newer, and they must allow for the caller to perform administrative tasks remotely.

Usage

Target devices
Devices that are to be shutdown (or restarted)

Shutdown message
The message that is shown while shutdown is waiting to begin

Options

Seconds before timeout
Number of seconds that will pass before the shutdown is executed

Force shutdown
Click this option to tell Windows that applications cannot halt the shutdown process (for instance, an application may ask a user whether or not to save a document, and thereby stall the shutdown process). With this option, Windows will terminate all programs regardless of unsaved data, which will then be lost.

Reboot
Click this option, if the device are to restart.

Abort
The shutdown can be aborted by pressing this key, unless the actual shutdown sequence has already begun.

Send Message up

Note
The Messenger service is discontinued as of Windows Vista.
Therefore this tool cannot be used with Windows Vista / Server 2008 based devices

The send message tool is an interface to the Messenger service in Windows. The Messenger service is a small component in Windows that can be used to send messages to other computers across the local network.

The message is shown on the desktop on target devices as a message box, as shown in the picture above.

Usage

Target devices
Devices that are to receive the message

Sender
(Optional) If entered, then the message box will write this name as the sender

Message
The message that is transmitted and shown in the message box
