Requirements

DomainScan can monitor any WMI enabled computer that is a member of the same domain or workgroup as the host computer *1), however the installation server must meet certain minimum requirements:

Hardware requirements
(For the DomainScan host system)
Processor32-bit Pentium MMX class or better (x86). 64-bit (x64 class) processor
MemoryAs required by the host system
Disk space50 MB for installation files + additional space for database and log files
NetworkIPv4 or IPv6 compatible

Operating System
Details
Windows 2000 or newer

It is essential for DomainScan that the Computer Browser service in Windows is running, which may not be the case, if Windows Firewall (or any other firewall solution) is present. See Techdoc 5 for details.

Important
DomainScan Engine must run with administrator privileges to utilize all tools. On Windows Vista or newer, administrator privileges are required for both Client and Engine

Installation

Clean installation
1: Run the setup file. Install DomainScan (Service + Client) on one server.
2: Start DomainScan and follow the Setup Wizard that will guide you though the initial setup.
3: (Optional) Once the initial scan is complete, install DomainScan Client on computers from where you wish to be able to work with DomainScan.

Upgrade
1. Stop DomainScan Service. This can be done from within DomainScan in Settings.
2. Close DomainScan Client.
3. Run the setup file. Install DomainScan Service on one PC, and DomainScan Client on the PC's from where you want to monitor the service.
4. Start DomainScan Service again (either restart the server, or use the Service Setup panel in Preferences)

Note: Skip step 1 and 4 on computers where only DomainScan Client is installed.


Uninstall
1. Important Stop and then uninstall DomainScan Service. This can be done from within DomainScan in Settings.
2. Close DomainScan Client.
3: Run the uninstall program.
